AMG Garage Door Expert is a service-area garage door business working across eight counties in North Jersey and Central Jersey: Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic, Somerset and Union. All work is performed at your home or business, at the door itself, because a garage door cannot be brought anywhere to be worked on. We repair doors, replace torsion and extension springs, service openers, replace cables and rollers, hang new doors, and run safety inspections.
What follows is what we can document: how the work is done, what it covers, and what this page does not claim.
We tell you what repair cannot fix
A rotted bottom section, a track bent by a vehicle strike and a door that has been patched repeatedly are repair jobs that stop paying for themselves. Saying so before a booking costs us a job occasionally. Saying it afterwards costs a customer.

Torsion springs wear at the same rate, and the older one left on the shaft drags the new one out of balance. Both go in together, matched to the measured weight of the door, and the door is rebalanced by hand before the opener is reconnected.

What we work with
Springs are oil tempered and cycle rated, matched to the door rather than pulled from a shelf. Cycle options are discussed before the job, because a heavier door or a busier driveway justifies a higher cycle rating and a lighter door does not need one.
Openers are serviced on the bench logic of the part: force limits read and reset, drive gears and belts inspected, photo eyes aligned and the auto reverse tested with a solid object rather than by eye. A new opener, when one is wanted, is sized to the door and programmed with smartphone control and battery backup where the model supports them.
