Get my estimate
Describe the door, the opener and what the door is doing, attach a photograph if you have one, and the written price comes back the same day. Nothing is owed until you accept it.
Tell us what the door is doing
The more the form says about the door, the opener and what the door does when you press the button, the closer the written price is to the number the technician gives you at the garage.
No obligation. The phone is answered at any hour.

How the written estimate works.
One price, in writing, for the door you described. It is agreed before a tool touches the door.
- Same day
You hear back today
Requests sent during the day are answered within a couple of hours by the technicians who perform the work. Anything that arrives overnight is answered first thing in the morning.
- No obligation
What the price is
The estimate is a number you can compare. Nothing is scheduled and nothing is owed until you accept it, and you are free to take the number elsewhere.
- In writing
What the price covers
The door and the parts it names, the springs matched to the door's weight, the opener work if any, and the expected time on site. It covers the door described and it does not change at the house.
Four things that make the price accurate.
None of them is required. Each one narrows the range, and together they usually make the written price the final price.
A photograph of the door
The single most useful thing you can attach. A photograph of the whole door, taken in daylight, tells us the door type, the spring system and the condition of the sections. If the door moves strangely, a short video of one full cycle is even better. Up to five files, 8 MB each.
The door and the opener
Roughly how wide and tall the opening is, single or double, and the material if you know it. For the opener, the brand and the age if you know them, and whether it is a chain, belt or wall mount. The model sticker answers all of it if you can reach it.
What the door does
The symptoms, in the door's own words: it will not close, it reverses partway, it slams down, it is crooked in the opening, the opener hums, the spring has a visible gap. Say when it started and whether anything happened before it, a storm, a vehicle tap, a new bulb in the opener.
The garage itself
Whether the garage is attached or detached, how the door is reached, whether the cars can be moved out of the bay, and anything stored against the wall the springs sit on. Access decides how long the visit takes and what the technician brings first.
Usual time on site, by job.
The estimate carries the expected time for the work it names. These are the usual figures for the common failures on a standard residential door.
| Job | Usually on site |
|---|---|
| Torsion spring pair | One to two hours, including rebalancing the door. |
| Cables and rollers | Often under an hour. |
| Opener repair or replacement | One to two hours, including programming and the reverse test. |
| New door installation | Most single and double doors done in one visit. |
These are typical figures for the common failures, not guarantees. The written estimate for your door states what its own visit covers.
Frequently asked questions
Question 1: How is the price worked out?
By what is on the garage: the door, its size and weight, the spring system, the opener and their condition. We do not publish a price list, because a door with one snapped spring and a door with a frayed cable, worn rollers and a tired opener are two different jobs. The written estimate covers the door you described and does not change at the house.
Question 2: Will you tell me if the door should be replaced rather than repaired?
Yes, and before the work begins rather than after. A rotted bottom section, a track bent out of shape and a door that has been patched repeatedly can cost more to keep alive than a new door costs to hang. We say which case you are in as soon as we see the photograph or the door, and a repair estimate never becomes a push toward a new door.
Question 3: Does the estimate cost anything?
No. The written estimate is free and it commits you to nothing. Nothing is owed until you have accepted the price and the work is finished, and comparing it with other companies first is expected.

Prefer to describe it by phone?
Call and speak with a technician who performs the work. The line is answered at any hour by appointment, and we can take the details and send the estimate the same way.
